IMDB rating: 5.60

Plot: The director of such off-beat independent films as In the Soup, director Alexandre Rockwell once again teams with that film’s star to deliver this Los Angeles-based comedy concerning superstition and intersecting lives. Things aren’t looking so good for television clown Banana’s (Steve Buscemi) career, and the fact that his estranged wife, Suzi (Jennifer Beals), has just been arrested for assaulting his girlfriend, Lily (Karyn Parsons), just serves to compound Banana’s despair. Teaming with sidekick Binky (Peter Dinklage) to enlist the aid of bail-bondsman Mo (David Proval), Banana and Binky discover that Mo is currently negotiating the release of hip-hop mogul Lenny’s (Daryl Mitchell) wife, Sandra (Rose Rollins). The hapless group soon teams to help Mo by finding a suitable kidney donor for the bail-bondsman’s ailing son, and though they quickly happen across a drunk (Peter Stormare) who fits the bill, the trouble comes in keeping the prospect in the hospital. Doing their best to help Mo’s son under increasingly chaotic circumstances, personal tensions flare as each character desperately tries to simultaneously battle their own inner demons.

Lauren Hynde (Shannyn Sossamon) is, technically, a virgin. She’s saving herself for her shallow boyfriend, Victor Johnson (Kip Pardue), who’s left the States to backpack across Europe. Her slutty roommate, Lara (Jessica Biel), has the hots for Victor as well. Paul Denton (Ian Somerhalder), who used to date Lauren, is openly bisexual and attracted to Mitchell Allen (Thomas Ian Nicholas), who’s dating Candice (Clare Kramer) to prove to Paul that he’s not gay. I'm attracted to this palestinian girl in my class!?
We are both seniors in a science class and I conviced my teacher to allow me to sit next to her for second semester. She is palistinian but was born in Florida, and my parents are Colombian and Chilean, and I was born in Florida as well. I know that she is religious because she wears pretty scarves over her hair, but it doesn’t cover her face. Her mother makes her wear it for school. Anyways, I know that there is an attraction felt by both of us to an extent, and are surrounding peers can see it as well. People keep telling me that nothing will eve happen between us because she is probably Muslim and religious and family honor… So on and so forth. She has also told me that If anybody associated asks me about her I’m supposed to say that I never talk to her and she is just a fellow student. What am I supposed to do and what should I know about her and her culture/rules/bounderies? Pls help!!!!! And I did this on my itouch so I apologize for crappy structure and punctuation.

In 'Six Young Men', what does the writer mean when he says 'to regard this photograph might well dement'?
What does he mean by this? And what does it show about his feelings? It’s about World War 2 in Britain.

The celuloid of a photograph holds them well,-
Six young men, familiar to their friends.
Four decades that have faded and ochre-tinged
This photograph have not wrinkled the faces or the hands.
Though their ****** hats are not now fashionable,
Their shoes shine. One imparts an intimate smile,
One chews a grass, one lowers his eyes, bashful,
One is ridiculous with cocky pride-
Six months after this picture they were all dead.

All are trimmed for a Sunday jaunt. I know
That bilberried bank, that thick tree, that black wall,
Which are there yet and not changed. From where these sit
You hear the water of seven streams fall
To the roarer in the bottom, and through all
The leafy valley a rumouring of air go.
Pictured here, their expressions listen yet,
And still that valley has not changed its sound
Though their faces are four decades under the ground.

This one was shot in an attack and lay
Calling in the wire, then this one, his best friend,
Went out to bring him in and was shot too;
And this one, the very moment he was warned
From potting at tin cans in no-man’s land,
Fell back dead with his rifle sights shot away.
The rest nobody knows what they came to,
But come to the worst they must have done, and held it
Closer than their hope; all were killed.

Here see a man’s photograph,
The locket of a smile, turned overnight
Into the hospital of his mangled last
Agony and hours; see bundled in it
His mightier-than-a-man dead bulk and weight:
And on this one place that keeps him alive
(In his Sunday best) See fall war’s worst
Thinkable flash and rending, onto his smile
Forty years rotting into soil.

That man’s not more alive whom you confront
And shake by the hand, see hale, hear speak loud,
Than any of these six celluloid smiles are,
Nor prehistoric or fabulous beast more dead;
No thought more vivid than their smoking-blood:
To regard this photograph might well dement,
Smile from the single exposure and shoulder out
One’s own body from its instant and heat.

And what does it show about his feelings?

Thank you.

You’ve left a line out. The actual verse is:

To regard this photograph might well dement,
Such contradictory permanent horrors here
Smile from the single exposure and shoulder out
One’s own body from its instant and heat.

Dement means to cause to lose one’s mind, or to make crazy. So I think he is saying that the juxtaposition of the men in the photograph, so alive, with their eventual fates is enough to make you lose your mind - perhaps because it is so tragic.

As far as his feelings, it seems to me that he is talking about the futility of war, not just how sad it is, but how awful it is for men at their most vital to be taken from their lives. It is sad and a bit angry, to me. But also a bit fatalistic, as viewing the photo forces confrontation with the mortality of us all.

senlin | Jan 30, 2010

To dement someone means to make them insane. So the line means, "Looking at this photo might drive you mad.

Why was jesus dying for all sins the basis of christianity when jesus knew he was going to heaven?
My question is-

When Jesus died, he knew that he was the son of God and he knew that he was going home. He died because he was persecuted, not because he was sacrificing himself for any living individual at the time.

There are many who sacrifice themselves for others. Soldiers protecting citizens, police officers, bodyguards, and others that are personally defending others. I even had a dog that died protecting me from a rattlesnake.

These people are not the son of God. They do not know for certain if they are going to heaven. Faith in their beliefs is all they have. Jesus knew. These people didn’t.

They are risking their eternal fate by saving someone else. Jesus sacrificed his body, not his soul.

Why is his bodily sacrifice so important to christians?

There is not one single mention of Jesus in the entire Roman record - that is right - not one!!! At the same time as he was supposed to have been around there were a number of Jews claiming to be the messiah - all of whom are well recorded!!

There is not a single contemporary record from any source and even the bible mentions of him like all other references were not written until many years after his supposed death!!

He was supposed to have been a huge problem to the Romans and produced wonderful miracles but still not one contemporary record?

Even the bible mentions of him like all other references were not written until many years after his supposed death!!

Pilate is recorded in the Roman record as a somewhat lack luster man but no mention of a Jesus, a trial or crucifixion that would surely have been used to make him look brighter!!

At best he was an amalgam of those others!!

Sage | Jan 17, 2010

Jesus did not exactly fit the mould of a messiah. Early Christianity had to make some meaning of his death.

Concern, honor, dignity, wanting a better life for society, Yeshua however died a horrible death that does not compare to any others on the cross. He did it because he loved us so much.
Edan | Jan 17, 2010

As God, Jesus is outside of time. He experiences forever the moment of His most horrible agony.

He’s not the only one who has had to sacrifice his body.
VirginVirgo | Jan 17, 2010

Here:

In the OT, God required a Blood sacrifice for sin.

Jesus was that final sacrifice, because, like the sacrificial animals, He too was without blemish, (sinless), & the only one worthy OF being the final sacrifice for man. his blood was shed on the cross, like that blood of the sacrificial animals.

But what makes Jesus unique is, is that:

1. He CHOSE to be the final sacrifice for man.

2. He defeated the penalty for sin, (death), by rising FROM the dead, shown that through Him, we to could know that we to could have eternal life, if we choose to follow Him.

Fgthjfx | Jan 17, 2010

It’s not the fact that He knew He was going to heaven.
While on earth Jesus was every bit human and subject to human pain, sadness and humiliation.
He did not want to die on the cross..because He was scared. But He did it for us.
His pain , humiliation and agonizing death on the cross was like this..
I heard a story about the Holocaust..I don’t know if it’s true or not..but the idea is clear..
Some concentration camp prisoners tried to escape, but were caught.
The Nazi’s brought all the prisoners out front and said that he was going to kill one of the prisoners who tried to escape. When he went he called the poor guy forward…an older prisoner spoke up. He asked the Nazi to kill him instead. He said the other man was young and had a family..and he was an old man so he begged the Nazi to kill him so the younger prisoner could live..the Nazi killed the older man instead of the younger man..
To me..the older prisoner is like Jesus in this story..it doesn’t matter what would happen after he died..he just wanted to make sure that the younger prisoner lived..
Elanshaw Redux | Jan 17, 2010

When Jesus was on the Earth, he was a human with the same life as such as you or me. There was a difference; he was perfect, meaning that in this state he was in was equivalent to the first man Adam. With the life that Jesus had on the Earth, he had the same feelings as more or less everybody on the Earth; that is they do not want to die. Jesus allowed himself to be sacrificed as such just as God required him to and this was to save all faithful mankind who would be obedient to God. What happened in this process was that Jesus as the first perfect man who could follow God to the end without sinning against God, unlike Adam who failed, won back the right for mankind to return to a perfect condition at a further time in the future. In this perfect condition to come, man would live forever as human beings.

There is an instance that shows that Jesus could have at any time called angels for his protection at any time before the whole set of circumstances unfolded. See scripture sited below:

Mat 26: 51 But, look! one of those with Jesus reached out his hand and drew his sword and struck the slave of the high priest and took off his ear. 52 Then Jesus said to him:

This is my new song. Please comment and rate =]
I will be redrafting this possibly so and help is welcomed

Waking up this morning, sun in my eyes
Thinking of the night before, you left my life
Remembering times you held me
Side by side

Memory’s keep coming, of happier times
Where we walked hand in hand by moonlight
Thinking of times you and I were
Side by side

You say you have got all that you need
Your troubled i can see
I don’t want to go anywhere, anymore
Just be with me tonight
My cloths still smell of you
What can i say to you
Please do me on last thing
Just be with me tonight

The nights now i lie alone, staring to the sky
Wait on a shooting start, to pass my eyes
To wish for you and I to be
Side by side

My life seems to be moving half a mile an hour now
I wishing, wondering, wanting, hoping how
You will appear with my sometime
Side by side

You say you have got all that you need
Your troubled i can see
I don’t want to go anywhere, anymore
Just be with me tonight
My cloths still smell of you
What can i say to you
Please do me on last thing
Just be with me tonight

You left me without warning
I can still remember that monday morning
You left me on my own
Your gone from my side

Ancient Relic (2002)

IMDB rating: 5.20

Plot: STEFFEN VOGT, aged around 25, is helping out at a German archeological excavation in Israel when he finds a 2,000-year-old skeleton holding the instructions for a video camera dating from the year 2003. The bones also show traces of the present day. His theory of a time-traveler who made a video of Jesus is laughed at by everyone, however, including SHARON, an attractive Israeli woman he adores. Although no one appears to believe him, his find certainly seems to have generated interest: Steffen is attacked shortly afterwards in his hotel room by strange men; then he discovers that the German embassy and the secret service are after him; and when his friend DAN is murdered, he goes into hiding. His only true ally is Sharon. Steffen’s theory seems to be correct: financier and time-travel expert KAUN turns up at the excavations in person and carries out several elaborate subterranean measurements at the Wailing Wall # where he believes the camera has been hidden. He is assisted by the head of the excavation, Professor WILFORT. Steffen suspects that Kaun is one of the people hunting for him and remains in hiding. Assisted by Sharon and her jealous boyfriend YEHOSHUA, he manages to steal a letter from the time traveler that contains coded instructions on how to find the video. Before the three of them can set off again in search of the video, Steffen is abducted and tortured. His tormentors # who later turn out to be members of a secret Vatican order led by the unscrupulous SCARFARO # try to blackmail the whereabouts of the Jesus video out of him and then destroy the tape before it gets shown to the public. Steffen manages to escape from them. With Sharon at his side and the murderous churchmen at his heels, he starts a frantic, action-packed hunt for the video. Eventually Steffen and Sharon find what they are looking for, inside an old monastery. Scarfaro has tracked them down, however, and the video falls into his hands. In front of everyone’s astonished gaze he then plays the film # and Steffen suddenly realizes that the biggest adventure of his life has only just begun….

Some said there were traps to protect the treasure, others say it was a curse.

To answer your question not really..The explanation to your question is conjecture.

More likely it was religious extremists who killed them for defiling what they saw as a sacred place.

If there wasn’t white people, humans would still be living in huts and hunting with spears.

Mopar Mike maybe you should reread your history. It was actually whites who were living in caves and trees before civilization was introduced to them from Africa. Timbuktu was the first organized commerce trade center. The Black African Muslim Moors occupied Europe for 800 years and brought them out of the "Dark Ages" by introducing modern civilization to their backwards lives. Egypt had cities with streets and plumbing when caucasians were crapping in dirt holes and wiping their butts with leaves (or their hands…and that’s if they wiped at all). Funny how some people prefer revisionist history.
Anyway back to the question…Animal Seeking Kindess, you started out with one question and made points about a totally different subject. Exactly what is it you want to know?

good point, bitta brutha. it seems like many aspects of "white" civilization came from somewhere else. i heard about timbuktu. what about alexandria? much of our knowledge of greek philosophy actually came from materials stored there. the moors (mostly doctors and lawyers in this case) translated greek philosophy and wrote pieces on it while the european chuches were demonizing it. of course, the egyptians invented algebra (the word itself is arabic and means captain). freakin spinoza was a moorish jew (hence black or arab lookin lol), yet in all the books ive seen, he looks like woody allen or something haha. what about homer (omar?); sounds like a griot who got stuck in greece. aesop (aetiop-Ethiopian)? Pushkin (half African at least)? fact is that revisionist history is not history. it’s a story for the inside crowd to maintain its power. if we knew what really happened in every case, our psyches would fundamentally change. it’s like the matrix, man.

Living in huts? While the chinese had a systematic government, europeans were still in the dark ages.
The Aztecs and Incas had empires, the whites were still eating raw meat.
While the whites knew nothing of religion, the egyptians already had an international library, the Jews had scriptures and the Muslims had an Empire spanning as far as Turkey and Mongolia right down towards Abyssinia!
The whites started their conquests in the late 17th century after creating firepower, they were rogues, looters and raped other continents and enslaved and drove out the locals. However, do not forget that they never really got a hold of East Africa,Arabia and Parts of Asia.

Dirty politics of signing treaties enabled them to annex large tracts of land from locals and now it is payback as we can see what is happening with the uprising of Native Americans, Zimbwabweans etc!

White people never conquered the world, they just looted and looted and looted.

How can I make really good disguises?
I want to disguise myself and be a master of disguise

Haha, this is an interesting question. :-)

Well, since you’re a guy, the ultimate disguise would be a girl. Correct?

Buy a wig in a different hair color than your own. Shave your face, legs, underarms- basically any part of your body where there’s hair that girls don’t have. Wear makeup, but not too much so that you draw attention to the fact that you’re hiding something. Paint your nails- toes and hands.

For clothes, wear heels, jeans, and a tight shirt and a cardigan. You’ll obviously need fake boobs. Carry a purse.

Practice walking, talking, and acting like a girl. You’ll need to try and feminize your voice, make it higher sounding, but not too screechy or nasal-y. Swing your hips a little when you walk, and don’t do that slouchy-guy thing. Stand tall! To make sure that no one recognizes you, avoid saying phrases or words that you often say. Make up a fake name, personality, and background.

Good luck! Hope I could help!
